First elected in 2024, Commissioner Brad Howard is running to serve another term representing Park View on the District of Columbia’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
Brad brings two decades of experience from City Hall to the halls of Congress and expertise in campaigns, communications, and constituent advocacy. He knows how to navigate government, command attention, and get things done.
In his first term, Brad has built a reputation of persistence — ensuring residents’ voices are hard and requests are resolved.
He delivered a major win for a condo association, forcing a District agency to produce files that are now saving homeowners hundreds of thousands of dollars.
He took on Pepco when power outages plagued Park View for months and refused to let them sweep it under the rug.
He’s helping to lead an effort to tackle DC”s rat population head on and to beautify Park View’s most iconic spots.
And he’s become one of the District’s most vocal advocates for transparency and accountability, opposing’s DC Council’s abuse of emergency powers, pushing for more rigorous MPD involvement in surging summer crime, and leading a Commission-wide resident survey to draw attention to the District’s abysmal response to the snowcrete weather event earlier this year.
These are not campaign promises. They are Brad’s record. And he’s just getting started.

MEET BRAD

Brad Howard represents Park View on Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1E, the most local level of elected government in DC. Since his neighbors elected him in 2024, Brad has focused on helping residents cut through city bureaucracy, making local government easier to understand, and ensuring Park View receives the attention it deserves.
Brad has called Washington home for 20 years. He moved here from rural Arkansas to pursue a master’s degree at American University, working at the Human Rights Campaign and bartending to put himself through graduate school.
He grew up in a family that knew the value of hard work. Brad’s dad worked three jobs as a truck driver, plumber, and car salesman before his parents joined forces to start a small business. Nearly 40 years later, they are still running it.
Brad went on to build a career in public policy and communications. He served in the Obama Administration and worked on Capitol Hill and at City Hall in New Orleans. Today, he serves as chief of staff to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
His work has also included Democratic campaigns for Congress, governor, and the U.S. Senate. In 2016, following the Pulse massacre, Brad led a four-month insurgent campaign that defeated an entrenched Member of Congress who had accepted a check from the corporate gun lobby just days after the tragedy.
Brad later owned and operated a public affairs consulting firm. During the 2024 election, he appeared as a political commentator on NewsNation, Fox News, CNN, and Bloomberg TV. He is a former officer of the Ward One Democrats and currently serves as Vice President of the Capital Stonewall Democrats.
Brad’s colleagues also elected him Secretary of ANC 1E. In that role, he works to keep residents informed and help the Commission operate more effectively, transparently, and professionally.
Brad is a Park View homeowner and a member of Foundry United Methodist Church. Outside of work, he is a Nationals fan, a history buff, a weekend cyclist, a self-declared weather nerd, a fun uncle, and a proud cat dad to Ouiser and Owen.
